this will be my first summit and watching some of the you tube videos I have seen some area that over hang the trail. For the hills here in Kentucky I have a 5' firestick. with the Bandi mount, this puts the antenna about 3' over the roof. Is this to tall and should I bring the 3' instead?

Nope it won't be a problem. I run a 5ft. Wilson 1000 on a bandi mount, and have run all the trails. The only thing I have ever hit it on up there is when you enter Telluride on Imogene (there are some trees that hang low that I hit it on) but it was no big deal. Fast-food drive-thrus will be a problem, but if you eat right (or just park in the lot), you won't have to worry about that :lol:
