We all know the stock fuel tank on the FJC is ridiculously tiny. Driving from where I live in the White Mountains, AZ to Toroweep made it clear that long range is not a strongpoint of the FJC. Even the auxiliary fuel cans aren't really that good, because three give me less fuel than a full tank, so if I run out of fuel going into an area, the three cans may not be enough to make it back out.
The auxiliary fuel tanks on the market are great, but not that big, and really pricey.
So I am considering one of these to mount either on the rear of the roof rack, which I don't like because of the weight/effect on center of gravity, and mounting it on a swing out tire rack, with the steel rack cage on the outside of the tank to protect it.

These are 40 and 45 gallon tanks, so they are maybe a bit too large, but maybe a 25 gallon one would do.
I would install a fuel pump to transfer fuel into my regular tank.
This seems a more practical, and affordable alternative.
