CV axle recommendations

Toyota no longer sells brand new CV axles, they are all remanufactured units.

Be aware of the difference between rebuilt & remanufactured.

So Toyota can source new axles for current FJ production, but won't sell the same new axles as replacement parts?

Seems very odd ... are you certain?
I have been trying to find new ones to have as spares for when the need arises. This is the information I have been given at local and any dealership I have contacted in my travels (work & personal) in NA.

New ones are available (example link below):

In my own personal experience, I've had two aftermarket half shafts fail. Each time required a tow home ($) and then purchase of another one ($). One time the inner joint came apart and cracked the transmission housing ($$). Based on those experiences, it is far cheaper to pay $400 for the OEM ones, and re-boot them for $40 when the time comes.

I did not see any available in the link....maybe I need another cup of coffee

Hmmmm....when I started looking for new OEM they were in the $600/pc USD range. Makes me wonder if those are new ar that price.
