Morning everyone. So this morning I decided to drive the fj to work so that I can get the paint code from the dealer and I noticed that the air blows when everything is off. Is not strong but enough to feel it. When I push the switch to circulate the air it stops. I added a pictures of when it blows while off and when it stops with the button on. It doesn’t blow stronger as the speed increases or stop when stopped. Is this the beginning of nightmare 2? Also, if anyone knows of a certified shop around San Jose CA that works on Toyota that is honest please let me know. I am not dealing with the dealership again. Thanks in advance for all the help.

Do you mean that while driving down the road some air enters the cabin through the vents, and that is stopped by putting it into recirculation mode?

If so, I'd say that is normal.
Yes, while driving air comes out the vents and when in circulation mode it stops. So that’s normal? I thought it was an issue as my 4Runner doesn’t have that issue or my other cars. But I guess if that’s a common issue on fj’s then I won’t stress. Paranoid now since all that Happened. Thanks!

That's why is called Recirculation. It shuts off the outside air from coming in and just recirculates the interior air. That's handy if you drive through a dusty area and don't want the dust to enter the cabin. It's also handy on really hot days if you want maximum AC quickly. On MAX AC, it's cooling and recirculating the already cool air in the cabin and not having to cool any hot exterior air that's coming in through the vents.

I'd agree with the assumption that what the OP is feeling is just normal airflow through the HVAC system when the blower is off.

However, OP states that "It doesn’t blow stronger as the speed increases or stop when stopped."

OP, are you CERTAIN that you are still getting detectable airflow through the vents when the vehicle is stopped and the HVAC blower switch is OFF?

I'd initially agree with the assumption that what the you are feeling is just normal airflow through the HVAC system when the blower is off.

However, you then state that "It doesn’t blow stronger as the speed increases or stop when stopped."

Are you CERTAIN that you are still getting detectable airflow through the vents when the vehicle is stopped and the HVAC blower switch is OFF?
