I just purchased at a state auctions a 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser as a my sons first car and a project for the two of us to work on. It has been sitting for since January 2023. What are you recommendations that I do first and what else would you add/do on to this vehicle?

After sitting for several years, on top of being a 15 year old vehicle, besides changing all of the fluids (fr and rr diffs, transfer case, brake fluid, coolant, ATF and power steering fluid), and dealing with whatever rust is underneath I would also consider replacing all of the rubber parts because they break down faster from lack of use:
- accessory drive belt
- PCV
- Rear Axle breather
- Radiator hoses
- gas cap
- pressure test the radiator cap to confirm it is still holding 15psi for at least 15 min.
- check the age of the tires
- consider changing the 6 rubber flex brake lines

At this point, ALL the coolant hoses, probably the coolant pump and definitely inspect all the wiring for rodent damage in the engine bay. Also check the cabin air filter behind the glove box for rodent intrusion as well. X2 on all the rubber sections of brake line, 2 in front, 4 in the rear. As for the tires, check the date code on the sidewall. If the date is past 10 years, replace them all.
