USB charger from the ceiling

Hi, could someone tell me the best and safest path? I'm worried about burning wires or short circuits. I've researched a bit and what I found was too varying for me to reach any conclusion.

My goal is: charging a GoPro camera from the ceiling close to the rear-view mirror.

What I look for is: list of tools that I should install in order to deliver electricity from some power source into the GoPro camera, and the best way to connect the tools.

Does it charge via a USB connection? You could try the setup that most dashcams use - wire a fuse and a long USB charger (mine is fuse -> cigarette charger -> USB cigarette charger cable) into the driver's footwell fuse box and run it up the A-pillar and under the headliner to the rearview mirror.

I think these are the ones I used:
Amazon.com: Bussmann (BP/HHH-RP) ATM Mini Circuit Converter: Automotive

Amazon.com: Cigarette Lighter Socket: Automotive

Hope that made sense. Let me know if you have questions.

Thanks man that sounds easy. Got two more points I need help with:

  • A. Confirm my understanding (before I burn my FJ)
  • B. Questions about fuse selection (amps, voltage and elecrtical stuff).

A. Confirm my understanding (before I burn my FJ):
  1. I open the driver footwell fuse box.
  2. Plug fuse-wire into ANY empty fuse slot in the fuse box.
  3. Connect a lighter's wires with the fuse-wire's tail.
  4. Connect GoPro via some USB-to-Lighter to the lighter's socket.

Is that perfect?

B. Questions about fuse selection (amps, voltage and elecrtical stuff).
  1. Should I plug the fuse-wire into any empty fuse socket? Or are there any specific markings that indicate which ones are more approperiate?
  2. GoPro needs an input of 5V 1A. Do y'all still suggest using fuse-wire which to me seems to have a fuse marked by "2-10 A"?. Is there any problem? Should I get a fuse with a lower Amp rating to match the 1A of GoPro?

You might want to have someone help you but all of the fuse locations in the fuse box are 12volt.

Even if I let someone else do it for me, I can't blindly trust whomever does it. I.e. I have to know the details to ensure to some degree that what's done is sound.

Currently I'm stuck at finding good dashboard USB sockets. It would be very valuable to me if ya'll could share recommendations.

Thanks,
