Wheel squeal/squeak

Apologies for a question on potential wheel bearing issues however I would like views from the best knowledge base here.

I have a faint rotational squeak coming from my right front wheel, only really obvious at low speed with the window open, more so when turning the steering wheel to the left.

I can only assume its the bearing on the way out however am I missing something else? Would there be other components making this squeel sound as the wheel rotates which clearly gets faster as the speed increases.

I jacked the car up, there is no play in the wheel or other components and certainly no “rumble” sound which I have had in other vehicles with bearing issues.

If the bearing needs replacing, I would like a pre pressed hub & bearing however there appears to be limited stock for something like this in the UK as its usually separate parts? I really cant be bothered with the hassle with this.

I can see various US stockists such as 1Aauto.com however I can’t message them to ask if they ship to the UK as their system blocks me!

Are the Dorman hub assembly a quality make as potentially I can purchase this through Amazon?

I’m waiting for Yotabearingsandhubs to get back to me to see if they ship to the UK, similarly what is the quality of these?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Prepresaed bearings are easier. I dont think ive ever heard squeaking as a bearing symptom. Does it increase your decrease with speed? Wheel bearings usually come with a low groan sound and a subtle but not smooth steering wheel feel when turning

I agree, doesnt sound like a bearing in regard to the squeak....but IF there is actually some play it could cause something else to squeak....brakes, hub seal, ect I would imagine.

The bearing is "buried" in the spindle, and under full truck load, so like mentioned, its usually a growl or other deep feel or noise.

If you have not take the wheel off, may need to check the brakes, calipers, pads, and backing plate before you go ordering up bearings.....they are rather stout. My money is on a brake component.

Yotabearingandhubs is a good source if they get back to you...Thats where I got mine some years ago. Were nice parts.

Cheers guys, I also spoke to my local mechanic & he also suggested that the sound I described is more likely brake components rather than bearings.

Im going to try & find an empty car park to stimulate the sound and check if the sound goes with some braking, then perhaps remove the pads and calliper. 🤞

Yeah check the pad springs are where they are supposed to be. Check the pad backing plates/shims didn’t delaminate and are falling off. Check the pad retaining pins are in place and secured by the little cotter pins. Verify no part of the dust shield it too near the rotor/ no rocks or debris hanging off anything.

Update:

After taking of the caliper and pads giving them a good clean up this appears to have resolved the noise!

Thanks guys. Nothing obvious but I guess start with the basics before spending money!!
