Good day gentlemen, I have a 2007 FJ. I have P0016 01/02 and P0016 02/20. Looks like streched timing chain. So I am UNABLE to select ATRAC because of the error code (For saftey Toyota does not allow to choose ATRAC when there is Christmas tree) . How can I OVERRIDE AND IGNORE error code and have ATRAC enabled?
Note:
1. Able to put vehicle on Cruise control
2. Able to put vehicle on LO (Can see light comes on and stays ON and stays ON GREEN)
3. Able to select Diff lock, when at Lo I can see the RED light BLINKING same time ABS sign ON. (issue?)
4. Pressed ATRAC at 4Lo and NO signs of ATRAC lights. In my 4Runner it comes ON solid green, nothing here.

Q1. Wondering why ATRAC is not getting enabled?
Q2. Can I override CEL and make ATRAC enabled?
Q3. Why Diff lock RED light BLINKING ( is that how it works?) and ABS lights ON same time?

My plan is to change engine later, so I am willing to take risk.
@FJtest / Anyone else, thoughts?

I've attached page ES81 of the FSM. It appears that P0016 has 2 trip detection logic. If you clear the codes, then the first engine start would probably set the code as pending, but maybe not set the Check Engine Light allowing ATRAC until the engine is started a second time.

Maybe before replacing the engine, have a look under the inspection cover for the timing chain tensioner to see if the chain really has elongated or if you've accidentally jumped the chain by a tooth from turning the engine backward at some point, like from stalling on a steep hill and rolling back with the clutch out. Perhaps also check the VVTI oil strainers to see if they are clogged too, preventing actuator function.

Thanks so much :)
I have reset the code couple of times but it just came back. Looks like the strech is about an inch or so, as previous owner never even cared to change engine oil (fixing that sledge issue now by changing engine oil every 500 KMS).

P0016 has 2 trip detection logic - is it because of the strech or something else? That CEL is taking my sleep away :)

Note: That PDF is showing as empty, corrupted?

I've replaced the PDF with a working one in the original post. It describes the conditions needed to set the code.

If you are in L4 (or LL), then selecting the diff lock will disable ABS, hence the ABS light. The red diff lock light will blink until the lock is actually engaged, then the light will come on solid when the differential is actually locked. If the red light is blinking when you aren't in L4, then it means that you left the diff lock switch pushed when in H2 or H4.

If you are in L4 (or LL), then selecting the diff lock will disable ABS, hence the ABS light.- Ah, got it and makes sense.

The red diff lock light will blink until the lock is actually engaged, then the light will come on solid when the differential is actually locked. If the red light is blinking when you aren't in L4, then it means that you left the diff lock switch pushed when in H2 or H4. - - I tried when vehicle is stationary , might be that is the reason. I will take it out for a spin and see how that goes.

So ATRAC wont turn ON since I got CL? Thank you so much for your replies.
