I'm pretty sure I spotted El Burro this afternoon around 3pm eastbound on Ted Williams Parkway. Got the wave and waved back.
Yup! Was heading back to Poway from the gun show. Good looking rig buddy!

Added a dust light. Welded on a light tab to the old bandi mount and mounted a Vision X solo LED. Need to add an amber filter. Little sucker is bright.

Thank you!

Well like I said Tuesday was going to be a big day for the FJ. Got the opportunity to stop by Total Chaos in Corona and check the shop out. They have some incredible builds going on, the shop was immaculate and everyone was really friendly. I dealt with Pat and he's the man!

Didn't stop by for just a tour though....snagged a little something for el burro.

Total Chaos' new "Race Series" +2" Long Travel kit w/ axles etc and a set of King Long Travel R/R Coilovers.

Started the install process last night. Taking it nice and slow getting everything freshened up in the front end. Stripped out all of the OEM parts except the axles and tie rods. Next tonight will be adding the cam gussets and coil bucket gussets. Already had the TC spindle gussets before.

These new lowers are works of art. I love the fact the new style has built in uniballs instead of the bolt on adapter before. Should equate into much more ground clearance than the older style. Pictured next to stock length LCA's. Also the king's next to OEM length coilovers. Pretty big difference.

Livin the dream! :smokin: sick!

Looking forward to
more pics and reports.

That is the LT kit I have been eying for a while now... Really looking forward to hear how you like it when it is all bolted up and on the trails/rocks... It seems like a great kit and I am patiently waiting for the day that I can actually afford the set up... So maybe in a few more years... I assume you will be doing a similar LT set up in the rear??

Your rig has always looked good, and you somehow found a way to make it that much better!!

Thank you!

Big Tuesday indeed. Pat is great to deal with at Total Chaos. The new race series is a great evolution of the TC long travel design. Glad to see that you're also updating the front end with some great new shocks as well. Any plan to add secondary shocks? :bigthumb:

Looks great. I followed the short thread on this over on pirate. I thought you were planning a solid axle. Any reason you wen't away from that?
Let me answer this for Bobby...
He road shotgun in my fj in a recent trip to the dunes and realized that going fast was much better then going slow... I don't have long travel because my wife won't let me spend the money but I'm sure that convinced him to go that route...

Are you done with the install yet?:grin

Great build thread and great looking Cruiser. How did you route the wires for the rock lights? I have looked at them but wiring for 8 pods seems aggravating
I just ran the wires through all the open spaces I could find back into the engine bay where I hard wired the power and ran the controler through the firewall gromet into the cab. Only took about 30 min, just get creative with some zip ties.

Yeah I am very excited to see how the whole system comes together. Pat really hooked it up and gave me a little tour of camp chaos as well. No plans for a secondary shock in the near future, but one of the great things about the kit is that the mount is already there!

Lol I should probably update that a bit more often. Basically what this guy below said. I love crawling around the rocks but when the opportunity arises to go fast, it's just too much fun not to. Also felt like if I SAS'd it, it would still have a lot of limitations on where the FJ could go or even fit. For the price of one rock jock you can buy a little junker trailer queen. That's the best way to go if you want to get hardcore anyways.

Exactly. Hey. sorry about breaking your seat sensor - I'm on a diet now I swear...

Not done yet, didn't get all the time I wanted to last night for the gussets - only got one tower boogered in (not kidding either...) I'll try and get the other one tonight, start and maybe finish the cams. the bolt on part is so straight forward I should have it ready to bleed the brakes and get an alignment by Sunday (AAT on Saturday)

Haven't had much time to work on the rig past few days. Been working too much, need more free time...
Got the tower gussets in, UCA's installed, and got the cam tabs all ready to go on tomorrow. Should have it wrapped up this weekend.

Just putting it out there, the stock cam gussets are a bad joke. They're ridiculous. The total chaos ones on the other hand are pure beef. Everything has fit perfect, very happy with the TC product so far.

The end is in sight. Tomorrow I'll finish the last few pieces...resi mounts, bump spacers and limit straps. Been driving it around, everything sounds great. Rides awesome. Time for this weekend to be here for the shakedown
