Mine has been coming on for an hour or two then off for about the same period of time the past 5 days or so. I have heard this may be low voltage but checks with voltmeter show volts ok. Any ideas?

Not showing a code for that.

Talked with Safari Ltd and they tell me it's either a problem with the air bag system or the yaw sensor. Sounds expensive. They did tell me whenever the light is on the air bags won't deploy. So no crashes planned.

I dont know how/why the yaw sensor would be used for the airbags but if theres a chance it is you could try a zero-point-calibration and see if that helps.

The zero-point-calibration basically brings the yaw and steering wheel sensors back inline with each other.

I had mine come on one day. I'm not sure if it was caused from going down a bumpy road with my friend who is very large in the front seat or if I hit the connection when I was throwing out trash when I filled up with gas. The airbag system uses different codes than the engine so a scanguage won't show anything. I had to take mine to the dealer to scan it and reset the light. They couldn't find any problem so they only charged me for 30 minutes of work. It hasn't been on since.

Still coming on/ off every few hours and getting CEL about twice a week. Going to the shop next week.

If the check engine lights there is a code or a pending code at that time. It may clear itself if it runs a monitoring loop on a 2 trip detection and does not reappear. There are several scanners that will read ABS and SRS codes in addition regular codes. Innova 316103 or 3160 will do it and you can record data when it detects a problem allowing you to review the data. Save yourself some money do it yourself.

Toyota computer check said the air bag warning light comes on periodically when the spiral cable gets weak. Replacement cost $425. Includes recalculating and labor.

Also cat is going, cost instd $1361. Is there a cheaper alternative? Does it affect performance or mileage ?

I can live with bad cats but not w/o all the trac aids. Heard there is some small part that can be bolted under the CO2 sensor to get things back to normal. Help needed.

Got that spiral cable replaced and took care of the airbag light. Then I got an Ultra gauge so it's real easy to read/delete codes.
