So my in-laws went to visit toyota/pontiac looking for a matrix/vibe. while at toyota they noticed no fj in showroom or out front, so they asked salesguy and he said: canadian dealers are going to sell off whatever they got in stock and their will be no 2010 fj's for sale in Canada due to lack of demand. :(

I actually saw a little bit of this as well.....

I traveled home to Niagara Falls for a couple of weeks and surprisingly saw no FJs in the Toyota lots. I stopped in and asked and was told they didnt really have any in stock currently due to lack of demand. I went on to talk to the VP of the dealership and he mentioned that most of the Canadian FJ stock is routed directly out to the west coast and Alberta due to the extreme demand. Now I live out in Alberta and you can definitely find them here. I think they are just recognizing a lack of demand in Canadian suburbia for the FJ....most there are looking for gas savers or luxury lines.

I was at Gateway Toyota on Saturday and they did not have a single FJ on the lot new or used. Didn't see anything in their overflow lot either.

Funny this came up. I dont pass through town too often, but yesterday while passing the dealer, I said to myself "hmmm, not a single FJ in the lot. Weird".

We had the same story here in San Diego. I talked to the TRD folks in Texas and they have loads of 2009 models etc but I could not find any out here...

They're probably shipping them to other dealerships that need them. With the way sales are the "We can get you one" goes a long way. Dealerships usually don't like offing their inventory to other dealerships. I know my dealership had a Land Cruiser that sat in the showroom for months and when another dealership called about it, bang out the door it went. They don't make much on selling it to another dealer thus the apprehension!

This is a sad day in Canada indeed. For what it is worth, a dealer in the US contacted me yesterday and told me this (and I quote):

"FJ Cruiser production appears to be halted. Currently, we are not receiving any more 2009 models in this region. It appears that Toyota is evaluating production needs on a month-to-month basis".

This was from a dealership in Arkansas. Just FYI..............Just about 2 weeks ago, there were a total of 138 FJ Cruisers in all of South East US Toyota states. 132 were '08's and only 6 were '09's. As of today, there are only 71, with 67 '08's and 4 '09's. If you have any '08's left at all, they would probably all have to be sold before you even got another '09. I did hear from another dealer, though, that the 2010 model would be available in August, but I will believe that when I see it.

Could it be related to frame cracks and fender sheet metal rips that other FJ owners have been reporting? Perhaps it's a safety issue and they need to redo things before a major law suit comes down.

I ordered mine in Febuary, there weren't any in the lot. Will receive end of April. Two wks after ordered mine, garage bought one 2007 and two 2008 in auction to be able to have some demo's in the yard. Strange way to do business ????????

Drove to Mayfield today and the only FJ's I saw on the lot were one Black Cherry in the used lot and one Ti in for service. Curiosity killed me so I drove around to the other dealers. Not an FJ to be found, even in their storage yards.

4 dealers - 1 FJ for sale

They show them for sale but it probably has been a couple months now sinse I have seen one on a lot.

Checked a few dealerships around me, they have a few FJs on the lots (didn't check the year). Talked to the salesman and got interesting reply. They all saying no demand since Spring. Remember first gas price went up, then crisis.
When I asked them what they would think if Toyota would of productionized FJ40 in the way Icon did, all of them said, that they would of sell it like a hot cakes, as many customers are actually were asking about Icons and when Toyota will start selling them. JKs are selling good here, so I think modernized FJ40 will beat it as Toyota quality is far superior to Jeep. There is a rumor that 2011 will be tha last year of FJ. I don't think it will become a collector item as FJ40 which was a "classic".
