Keyless Remote Programming Instructions Inside

I looked around on the forum and found several threads that talked about the programming instructions, but none actually had them. At most they pointed you to a website that "had" the instructions, or to downloading the entire Service Manual in two separate RAR files or a single ISO through a torrent feed.

I recently picked up a remote off eBay, and I just reprogrammed it to my FJ. Here are the double secret instructions (as listed in the Service Manual).

REGISTER RECOGNITION CODE MANUAL OPERATION
(a) Check that the following conditions are met
  • No key is in the ignition key cylinder.
  • Only driver side door is open
(b) Insert the key into the ignition key cylinder, and remove it twice within 5 seconds

(c) Perform the following operations within 40 seconds
  1. Close and open the driver side door twice.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition key cylinder, then remove it.
(d) Perform the following operations within 40 seconds
  1. Close and open the driver side door twice.
  2. Insert the key into the ignition key cylinder, and close all doors.
(e) Perform the following operations within 40 seconds
  1. Turn the ignition switch from LOCK to ON and back to LOCK 1 to 5 times at approximately 1 second intervals to select a mode (see table below).

I'll try to reproduce the table the best I can.
Number of ON-LOCK operations of ignition switch:
[Add Mode]: ON-LOCK operation - Once (use this to add a new remote)
[Rewrite Mode]: ON-LOCK operation - Twice (use this mode for completely rewriting all registration codes (e.g. you lost a FOB))
[Confirmation Mode]: ON-LOCK operation - 3 times (use this to confirm the number remotes currently configured to your FJ)
[Prohibition Mode]: ON-LOCK operation - 5 times (I'm not sure what this mode does)

    HINT:
If the number of ignition switch ON-LOCK operations is 0, 4, 6, or more, there will be no response (power DOOR LOCK and UNLOCK operation) to show which mode has been selected.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder.
(f) The main body ECU automatically performs power door LOCK-UNLOCK operations to indicate which mode has been selected.

Response to mode selection (Power door lock operation):
[Add Mode]: LOCK-UNLOCK operation - Once
[Rewrite Mode]: LOCK-UNLOCK operation - Twice
[Confirmation Mode]: LOCK-UNLOCK operation: The number of registered codes (1 - 5 times)
[Prohibition Mode]: LOCK-UNLOCK operation - 5 times

HINT:
  • In Confirmation Mode, LOCK-UNLOCK operation will occur once for each recognition code that has been registered. For example, if 2 recognition codes have been registered, the LOCK-UNLOCK operation will occur twice.
  • In Confirmation Mode, if no recognition codes have been registered, LOCK-UNLOCK operation will occur 11 times.
  • If Confirmation Mode or Prohibition Mode is selected, the operation ends after the response to the selected mode is completed.

(g) Register a new recognition code (Add Mode or Rewrite Mode) in accordance with the following procedure.
  1. Within 40 seconds of Add Mode or Rewrite Mode being selected, press the LOCK and UNLOCK switches on the transmitter (keyless remote) switch simultaneously fo 1.0 to 1.5 seconds. Within 3 seconds of moving your fingers away from the switches, press either switch of the transmitter for more than 1.0 second.
  2. Within 3 seconds of the transmitter switch being released, the LOCK-UNLOCK operation will be automatically performed once if the registration of the recognition code is correctly completed. (if not wash and repeat)

HINT: If the LOCK-UNLOCK operation is performed twice, the registration of the recognition code has failed, so perform the registration procedure from the beginning once again (bummer).
(h) If multiple transmitters need to be registered, repeat the registration of a new recognition code procedure within 40 seconds of the previous registration.

(i) If any of the following conditions are met, the Registration Mode will end:
  1. The key is inserted into the ignition key cylinder.
  2. Any doors are opened.
  3. 40 seconds or more elapse after code registration.
(j) Registration of recognition codes (Add Mode and Rewrite Mode) is completed.

>This works for Toyota brand remotes only correct?
I'm gonna say yes (as it is from the Toyota Service Manual)

This works with models that are keyless and/or alarmed. I have the Toyota alarm installed in mine and it worked just fine.

I say we have a big get together and all do this at the same time!!

Can you imagine all the doors opening and closing....locking and unlocking....

BTW, thanks for the instructions on this (even as funny as they seem) :)

When installing the RS3200 Plus VIP alarm, does the ECU communicate with the alarm system to activate/deactivate? Is there any programming to do after the alarm is installed? They mention something about "fitting the appropriate fuse" just before performing the checklist after the install. At the end they say "remove appropriate fuse". WHat is this fuse and where is it located?

Ok, I have a question here... So I have master key which was recently curved for my ignition, ignition itself was reprogrammed. So I still have 2 old keys, with key fobs on em. Old key able to unlock doors with just a key and with unlock button for central lock, but can't start ignition. I need to reprogram ecm to accept new key and able to start ignition with it. Found this info..but unfortunately it didn't work for me.
For 1998+ Toyota, Lexus
Add Duplicate Key
1. Simultaneously depress and release brake and accelerator pedals 1 time.
2. Insert existing master key into ignition.
3. Within 15 seconds depress and release accelerator pedal 5 times.
4. Within 20 seconds depress and release the brake pedal 6 times and
remove key.
5. Within 10 seconds insert new key into ignition.
6. Within 10 seconds depress and release the accelerator pedal 1 time.
7. After 80 seconds new key is registered and security light goes off.
8. Remove new key and depress and release brake pedal 1 time.

For 2002+ Toyota, Lexus
Add Duplicate Key
Requires one working Toyota/Lexus Master Key.
1. Make sure all doors and windows are closed.
2. Insert Master key into the ignition cylinder.
3. Cycle the ignition cylinder from On to OFF five times.
4. Open and close the “driver side” door 6 times.
5. Remove the Master Key and insert the new duplicates key.
6. TURN THE IGNITION CYLINDER ON.
7. The new key will be registered after 60 seconds. The THEFT light on the dashboard will go out, indicating that programming has been completed.
Info went from here.
So if anyone know how do i register a key or how do I re-flesh ecm to programming mode, I would be very grateful. Don't want to pay more for this stuff. Thanks.

P.S.
found some info on programming keys with re-flashed ecm..although it does not tell how to re-flash it...will be looking..
Here is the link.

My old key.
