You're not going to like this. Thule's locks are not secure if you can see the serial number on the lock. Hopefully Thule got wise to people reading the serial numbers and ordering keys since this guy made the post below. You'd need to get a more secure lockset and a way to prevent prying where the mechanism more securely locks down the upper part. In other words, make it a more difficult and louder operation just to break into it.

Actually, I was thinking a thief could unscrew the cross members and just take the entire box. You may or may not be aware but the roof rack crossmembers are held down with a thumb screw mechanism
Anything will just be a deterrent. A big screw driver or prybar will easily pop the lock on the Thule. I have a Yakima and when parking overnight on long trips I actually wrap a large and long chain around everything (the box and the rack) with a big padlock. I don't drive with it like that, but there is no way it can be opened or removed while the chain is there.
I know what your saying and I like it. I’m saying if anyone jacks with my ride my car alarm goes nuts but I like back up alarms you can never be too certain
