Rear Sway Bar Bolts

I removed my sway bars a couple of years ago and I don't realize the difference. Meaning I've gotten so used to not having them even on the highway. Well I have to re-install them because the wife and son won't drive it without the sway bars. They think it's going to tip over, I said that adds to the excitement.

I lost the bolts that attach the rear sway bar to the axle housing. Does anyone know the size and pitch. I know its a 10mm but don't know the pitch. I've tried 10mm x 1.25 and it seems to go in a few threads and then gets real tough to go any further. I also tried 10mm x 1.5 and it only went in a couple of turns.

If someone knows please help a brother out.

The bolts holding the sway bar bushings on are 10x1.25, L=26mm.

You were good not to force it, because once mud and corrosion have buggered up the threads of an unused/empty hole they really need to be cleaned/chased before something is put into them to prevent damage.

If you have a 10x1.25 tap you can clean them up the best. Or, if you have a wire brush that will fit the hole you can work with that to get the threads pretty clean and then try running the bolt in/out a few times before applying torque.
