Thanks again for posting this. I not only was able to quickly order replacements but i was able to swap these out in about 15 min. (Including mostly time for cleaning up the crud underneath the metal strip.) I however didn't get the metal strip to pop off of the inserts very easily at all. i found it easier for my '07 to push down hard on the top then push/pull towards my body at the same time. It loosens the plastic inserts from the holes in the body a bit, i then popped off the plastic feet and the metal strip all at the same time using a butter knife. That allowed me to clean up under those plastic inserts on the bare metal body, applied a touch of clear coat to one of the holes, and then was able to use the new plastic inserts with the built in new seals which were already applied to the weatherstrip that i purchased.

I'll be doing this soon. Thanks for adding your experience!

Nice "Leon" avatar, by the way.

Hi All! I'm finding plenty of guidance online about replacing these OUTER weatherstrip pieces but what about the INNER pieces? I already have all the parts, inner and outer, for both front doors but I haven't found any clues to replacing the inner weatherstripping. I'm not near the parts to post a pic at the moment but the inners do not have the same type of "pop in" fastener set up. They appear more like they slide into a channel, likely in the door panel itself from what I could tell, which would mean removal of the door panel. Hoping I'm wrong... About to search for door panel removal work on the off chance I see what I need to see on a removed panel or its process...

I realized today that the beltline weatherstripping on both of my suicide doors has come apart. As usual, this forum is a great resource.
Just a reminder to check multiple sources for pricing. I went to Sparks because they were recommended. Their price for the two parts was a little over $40, which is comparable to others I was seeing online. Their shipping to me was going to be $35+ which I felt was unreasonable. Total delivered cost would be $76 plus tax.
I'm in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, so I checked with Family Toyota in Burleson where I recently bought an Avalon hybrid. They would order the parts for me to pick up on Tuesday, for a total of $63 plus tax.
That seemed like a better deal until I checked Vandergriff Toyota in Arlington. Total cost shipped to me, tax included, $49. I may have found my new local dealer!

Thanks Yell07 - I need to replace one of mine and hadn't started doing my research yet so you saved me a bunch of time. Appreciate you posting this.
You should replace all four. When one goes bad the rest are right behind it. I have replaced all of mine twice already :)

OK, that sounds like good advice. Are these DIY installs or does this require dealer install? I live in AZ so the sun tends to do a number on rubber parts.
It literally takes 10 minutes to do all four :)

The weather stripping on both suicide doors of my truck has started to crack and fall apart over the past few months. My local dealer wanted ~$150 to replace the two weather strip assemblies, so I thought I'd have a crack at it myself for just the cost of parts (2 x $25/ea) through their parts department.

Unfortunately, the process of removing the old weather stripping is non-obvious to me. I'm not sure if the old parts are simply removed by force, there is some technique or trick, or if I need a special tool. I've spent some time on Google and the forums here, but the closest I've come to a solution is this thread: http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/interior-exterior-visual-tech/132236-what-do-you-do-about.html. I could just snap them off by force, but I'm worried that the plastic cone bits that snap into the door would break off inside the door. Does this require taking the inside door panel off?

If someone could help to enlighten me as to how to remove the old weather strips, I would greatly appreciate it. It looks like once they're off the new ones will snap right into place, but if it's more involved than that I'd be happy to hear about that as well.

Finally, here are some pictures to help illustrate what I'm talking about:
