Rosen Nav/Backup Cam installed - Cam doesn't turn on automatically!

I successfully managed to install my Rosen Nav Unit into my 2007 FJ with the 9 speaker audio system and I was so happy when I realized that I hadn't messed anything up. The aux port works, the steering wheel controls work, the subwoofer works...

I even managed to install the Rosen backup camera and it looks great. The one thing I was hoping someone could help me with is the problem I'm having getting the camera to switch on automatically when I switch to reverse. The parking sensors still activate and I can activate the camera manually from the menu, but it does not auto switch. I figure it might have something to do with one of the extra plugs on the camera harness? The camera plugs into one and one of the others is for a non-Rosen camera. But I can't seem to figure out anything to plug into the 3rd plug of the harness. Anyone familiar with the Rosen nav/camera combo? Oh, I did toggle the "reverse" option in the settings menu so I know it has to be a wiring issue.

Thanks in advance!

When you say steering wheel controls work; does that include blue tooth hands free for phone and channel/volume?
If so, was it easy to hook up? Bascially plug in the harness?
Do you have the factory sound system that includes the sub? I wonder how that will work - 11 speakers, but I doubt the deck supports 11 speakers. Are they 8Ohm speakers?

Slippery, the Rosen Unit will not work for the 2011 FJ, nor will any other unit without a total re-wire becasue it uses a LAN communication system.

The Rosen Install instructions are a little lacking, but they pretty much assume an authorized dealer will be doing the work, so they skip a lot of detail.

Yes, you will need to wire the reverse trigger. I did not buy the Rosen camera or the sonar sensors myself - I just cut off the the Rosen cable to splice it to the factory wiring in the kick panel and it worked perfectly whenever I went into reverse.

However, I found that the little camera in the mirror was just as helpful as the Rosen picture and that I was already trained to look up at the mirror - somehow looking at the Rosen screen makes it harder to back up safely (for me), so I turned the auto-switching off on the unit. I can still manually see it if I want to, but so far I have not found a need to.

Thanks guys, I managed to get it working by splicing the red/yellow wire from the fuse box area to the lead labeled "Back." I was thrown off by the other red/yellow wire and ended up tapping into that one the first time. Then I found the leftmost (correct) one and that was the reverse trigger wire.

I have a 2007 so it sounds like my electronics are a little bit different than yours. It was a plug n play install other than having to tap into the reverse wire. The hardest part was finding a place to route the camera wire into the car and running it to the front. Turned out very nicely though!

Do you have any pictures of this unit in your dash?
I saw this unit as a "factory replacement" on Crutchfeld and was highly considering, but was worried about the steering controls, AUX and subwoofer switch.
Are you satisfied? Any trouble during install?
Anything else you can write about it would be great.
Feel free to PM me, too.
