Hi all,
I searched but I couldn't find anything... But I'm new here, so apologies if I didn't look hard enough.
I have a 2007 FJ in voodoo blue. A month or two ago a strange little panel that I didn't even really appreciate existed flipped up on the highway with a tremendous noise, and I stopped and carefully took it off before it blew away. It seemed like some clips were missing and it was only being held in there by the rubber trim. I put it in the car for the rest of the trip, and when I got home I pushed it back into the place that it came from.
Skip forward a few weeks and my son was not in town more than about 30 minutes before driving to the supermarket and coming back with a big gap where the panel used to be. It had completely disappeared. He can't explain it. I am weirdly not surprised.
So I need a new panel, plus whatever clips are needed to keep it in place. I have no idea what part I need. The Toyota dealerships in town are worse than useless; it takes weeks to get them to return voicemail and they seem to have no interest letting me brave their COVID perimeter and asking a question in person. To be honest I'd prefer to find any solution that doesn't involve them at all.
So, I wondered whether someone here could help me:
1. What do I call this part? Anybody know the part number?
2. Am I right in thinking this is normally held in with some kind of clips? What are those part numbers?
3. It seems like this should be something that I can just put back in myself, with the right parts. However, I am mechanically incompetent and maybe there's something I'm missing. Is there some difficult aspect to this that means I need to find someone to help?
Pics attached to explain what I'm talking about.
Joe
