I have 30k original miles on my 08 and suspect value will hold based on my very unscientific vantage. Nearly every time I am out and about, someone stops to ask about the model, year, etc…and then I get the questions about ‘if you ever want to sell, call me’. Clean FJ’s are increasingly hard to find regardless of year and if you have one on the road, people seem to come out of the woodwork. Owning an FJ is a little bit like owning art—it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it and not a penny more

My FJ Cruiser is currently at 63k, the 2020 Taco is at 3470-ish total miles.
 
I’d say she’s a beauty… of course I’m a little biased. 😉
My near exact replica (06/06) has exactly 100k more miles.
Still a reliable beast!
 
I agree. The bad quality and complexity of new vehicles is a turn off. Believe me, I've been down that road. Besides, I'd rather get a root canal than enter a stealership and go through the unpleasant experience of purchasing a new car. I'll be keeping my FJ until I get too old to repair it, because as long as I own it, no one touches it for repairs. It's got years of life and mileage left in it, it's reliable, has a unique and timeless design and is well built. You can't top that with any new car on the market. Now, when they invent antigravity cars that float along or go into outer space armed with lasers, I might consider it. 🤔

I have the 2014 ttue and it just hit 200000 miles, have owned it since 2017 and I have been on the fence with selling it to get something different, the problem is always that I have every record of maintenance and know that when I get in I am always going to get to where I need to be without hesitation. The reliability is unmatched.
 
I’m getting a different daily to preserve my FJ investment.
Let me recommend what my wife and I daily, a 2023 Chevy Bolt EUV. Under $30K, hands-free driving on the highway, heated/cooled seats, costs 3 cents a mile to drive because it's electric. It's our default vehicle to take somewhere when we just need to go somewhere cheaply and easily.

I used to daily an '06 Honda Big Ruckus scooter, it used a gallon of gas a week. The Bolt is cheaper to drive than that, and I never get rained on.
 
If your main concern is resale value you'll never be able to enjoy it for what it is, a truly unique vehicle.
Many of us here consider them our "forever" vehicle, meaning resale is meaningless.
That's exactly how I feel. My FJ will unlikely ever be sold again while I'm alive.
 
I am keeping mine regardless of what comes out. I had 5 people in the last 30 days tell me that they wish they had not sold their FJ back in the day. I got an 07 with almost 300K miles.

No issues. Change the oil every 5K miles. I FEEL I WOULD REGRET SELLING HER.
I'm one of those people who wished they hadn't sold their FJs. I bought a new one in 2009 and sold it six years later when it reached 150,000 miles. This was my first Toyota, and I didn't do my research, so I mistakenly concluded that the vehicle was reaching the end of its lifespan. Plus, I kind of wanted a change of pace. I've regretted the decision ever since. Went on to purchase a Ram 1500, which was a fine vehicle, but I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as the FJ.

Fortunately, I was able to purchase a 2011 w/ just under 100,000 miles on it just a few months ago. The dealer laughed when I told him I sold my old one when it reached 150,000 miles. He's seen several that reached 300,000 miles. Live and learn. Now, I'm at a point where the only thing I really worry about is the frame rusting out (it looks pretty good as of now) because I'm more than willing to swap out the transmission or engine if they eventually go (hopefully many years from now).

At 106K miles, my 2012 is a fantastic vehicle (I'm the third owner). Sure I need to replace the LCAs and upgrade the struts/shocks due to the weight I've added...and new tires go on next week. But man this thing is rock solid. [edit: new Falken WP 4Ws went on yesterday. Huge improvement in ride quality over my old Toyo OC IIs.]
 
Just trying to see what the fj owners think of the current market and where are they headed. Do we think they will be classics as it does not appear they will be manufactured again. Just a conversation starter.
Just bought 2008 paid 13,750 love it 162,000 MLS, do you all think that was a OK deal?
 
Just wanted to share... The FJ Cruiser looks like a vintage SUV—and now it’s appreciating like one & 245-mile Trail Teams Edition is the first $100K+ FJ Cruiser—but not the last .

I have to give Hagerty some credit for tracking this kind of automotive market. Hagerty thinks well of the FJ Cruiser. Well maintained original or lightly modified examples will be sought after in my opinion. Although enjoy the FJ they way you want.

Exactly. Looked up my state's classic license plate options. The state changed the rules from 20 yrs to 25. On top of that the rules require no more than occasional use like parades and car shows. Big upside is the end of taxes. Guess too many people are taking advantage since cars are lasting longer.

Yes I know the value of the FJ has gone down, but have you had a- experience?

Regarding the Bronco. Do your research and explore the service bulletins, recalls, and find those forums. Others owners may not complain, but they will be asking questions on their problems. See how those issues will effect satisfaction in ownership. Although the Broncos are still fairly new, I'd bet satisfaction will drop off sharply in the next couple of years given the Brand's reliability.
 
Looking at picking up a 2014 FJ base, auto, rust free with 37k on the clock Cement Grey. Price is up there... $41,500 but it's local and thinking if I buy one I want it to last! Owned multiple 4Runners and just bought another 2024 before they are gone thinking the two are so similar. Love our Runners always wanted the FJ just wasn't in position in the past. Is this way too expensive? Was looking for a manual but hard to pass this up. Thanks for the insight!
