I installed metaltechs medium rear coils and they seem to be quite stiff, I don't have any added weight, is there any way to make it drive more smooth on road? I had my shocks revalved before hand and specifically asked that I was looking for a smooth shock, so I don't think it's the shocks

Telling someone to re-valve shocks to be "smooth" is meaningless.

Suspension tuning is a combination of:
1. Spring: spring rate and preload;
2. Shock: compression and rebound damping, and total shock travel:
3. Vehicle: percentage of vehicle weight on the rear axle:
4. Environment: terrain & speed
5. Driver: aggressiveness

All these factors need to be considered to get a suspension setup "dialed-in" that is satisfactory for your specific needs. Just installing random springs and shocks is unlikely to work.

Every heavily-loaded coil spring will take a slight 'set' after installation, but that will have only a very slight effect on ride height, and will not really affect 'stiffness'.

What is the preload (or static height) and spring rate of the 'medium' MT springs, compared to the stock Toyota springs?

I believe the standard rear coil rate is 190 lbs and the metaltech is 220 lbs. I think the metaltech springs static height is about 17 inches, not sure what the standard Toyota ones are.

I went with metaltech for the long travel benefits. But not really liking the drive at the moment. I'm a relatively tamed driver on road. I'll try to add some weight to the rear and see what happens. My shocks are the same lengths as metal tech icon long travel. So that's not the issue

Buy a fridge and keep it in the back... lol.

You would be surprised how fast the weight of stuff you put in the back adds up.... recovery gear, tools, compressor, shovel, axe, booster cables, and fridge 😎
