First - get her ready to fish

the castawy clamps fit nicely on the stock cross bars

the locking reel box protects your line for the sun as well

june 2006 - with Thule Castaway - locking solution for fishing rods & reels

stock tire recall allow me to slide into Nitto Terra Grapplers at almost no cost.

may 2007 - stock roof rack with Wavewalk kayak & custom build cargo carrier
Image

still working on the cargo carrier...will update when it is finished.

i decided to make my own airdam by recomissioning an old 44" Thule fairing (from an old pathfinder)

refinished piece - spray painted
Image

i took the longest crossbar from the stock rack and drill a new hole in the hard plastic clamps. this enable me to use one star bolt to secure the plastic clamp to the cross bar and a hex bolt to secure the fairing support through the middle hole (because i drilled a 3rd hole) in the plastic clamp section and thread into the crossbar

for the center support, i bought a Yakima Mighty Mount 23H to fit around the crossbar.

september 2007 - out on a cape cod outer beach with fishing rods, 9ft longboard & 7ft surfboard. newly painted black bling plate which acts more like a shovel in sand than a skid.

luckily, the bumper wing stayed on

since she and her lap dog were at fault, i ordered an All Pro front bumper and IFS skid to piece her back together. Oh and bilstein 5100s to level the front end, just for good measure.
Back in Action!

to mount the PIAA 510 Ion Fog Lamps, i was not interested in welding anything to my new bumper, so i visited the local hardware store for some inspiration. painted bolts and homemade bracket

Looks awesome! I love that Thule Castaway! I think that would be a great way to transport gear as well as fishing poles! Most of my poles break down--fly rods to land those big Utah trout!

P.S. I'm working on a front bumper wing mod. Care to donate your wings to a project?

the castaway is great for driving up and down the outer beaches and being ready for a blitzing school.

i will see if i can get the wings back from the body shop...let you know

Lookin' good so far, can't wait to see what else goes on the FJ!!!:bigthumb:

one of the crossbars is long enough if you remove one of the torque screws and drill a new (3rd) hole on the plastic clamp to the inside of the original 2 holes. then screw the 2 torque screws in place and you have a cross bar up front.

it is not bombproof, but good enough to drive out to the beach and back.

no complaints. they ride well on both road and sand, and i like the level ride. good price from all pro as well.

thanks guys.

i have been thinking about bumping up the front bilsteins to the top notch, but fitting into the garage is sooo nice.
