Thanks up front to @rev. 3:11 for his posts on a similar head unit. This is a newer model, $350 less than that model at the time of my purchase two weeks ago.

EDIT: This head unit appears to be nearly identical to those found in the new Lexus TX series. See post #15.

Of the dozen or so head units I've installed in various cars, this is without question the easiest. The included wiring harness plugs into the head unit, the A/C controller box (moved to this unit) and the FJ harness. You can literally install this unit without stripping or crimping anything; that's a first for me with an aftermarket head unit.

The unit is a native Android system; one of the installed apps allows customization of the steering wheel controls. There's no Maestro or iDataLink or any similar modules; it's all dirt simple.

I use an iPhone and the unit has so far booted into CarPlay every single time (takes about 15 seconds). Hopefully that will continue; both other head units (Pioneer and Boss Audio) I've used with CarPlay occasionally failed to connect until the car was restarted.

The auto climate control does control the temperature but so far does not alter the fan speed. Have to look at that some more.

I have not yet installed the 360 cameras but pretty happy with this upgrade so far.

I purchased it from the Navirider store on Ali Express. Current price with shipping is roughly $580-700 depending on how much RAM/ROM you buy it with. I suspect those options only matter if you actually run it as a native Android system and install a bunch of apps on it, and don't matter if you are primarily running your phone via Bluetooth.

The 360 cameras, which I hope to install in the next couple of weeks, were $80 additional.

I have no idea what the actual brand name or model number are. It's listed under "2024 Android 13.0 For TOYOTA FJ Cruiser J15 2007-2020 Car GPS Navigation Auto Stereo Head Unit Multimedia Player Carplay Radio". I purchased before the recent tariff thing, no idea what that might do. I have a small item currently in transit from a different China storefront, will update that. Shipping for this head unit took ten days.

Communication with the seller has been pretty good. After about 9PM I've been able to have actual text exchanges. It seems to be very helpful to have WhatsApp installed; right after purchase about 25 install images got pushed to my phone. They have also provided a direct WhatsApp link to their "engineer" who was responsive to the one time I've tried to contact them.

Here is a link to the exact unit I purchased; making it a separate post in case it's not kosher and needs to be deleted. I bought the max RAM/ROM in case I ever decide to install a bunch of stuff which I almost certainly won't.

See the link in the post above yours. My FJ is a 2014, so I'm sure it will work for a 2013. I'm not sure if the pre 2010 has a different wiring harness; the seller says it works with all FJs worldwide.

Well my buddy decided he wants one, so he just ordered the same unit. Will update on the tariff experience if any. He got the 6MB/128 GB version with the 360 cameras, total price $775, ordered this evening.

Successfully updated the vehicle model so it shows the right thing on startup. These things are important. Will also show this when I get the 360 cameras installed.

Any luck on the 360 set up?

I've hooked them all up and they work, just haven't had time yet to run the wiring for the cameras. I suspect I will need to do them one at a time as time permits. This is a pic with all four cameras just sitting on the seats.

Hooked up the reverse camera. It fits next to the existing backup camera.

While the system is booting it does this 360 spin thing which I thought was just the vehicle model, but it looks like it's the FJ embedded in the 360 camera view

I love this thing. Works well with my existing amps/crossover/sub. The 48 band parametric EQ is ridiculous.

I have encountered one issue so far- the microphone gain is too high resulting in feedback when attempting to compensate for the road noise while using hands-free calling. The seller has an engineer who has been responsive and has a line to the factory; he says he will have a firmware update for me soon.

The camera kit came from the same seller, and can be found here. I think it's a standard kit.

I Purchased the exact same unit last year for my 2012 FJ. I have not had a chance to install the cameras yet. I really enjoy this head unit the music sounds excellent with the factory JBL Sub and Speakers. I have also heard (read) the you can customize the strart up screen to user preference. I also just found out that on amazon they have a 15 Inch unit for sale at around $700.

Installed the right side camera. It works as expected. Hopefully now that I figured out how to route the wiring in the mirror the other one will not take as long. Planning to post install pics since I couldn't find a thread that covered the side mirror camera. The front camera looks very straightforward so hopefully will have pics of the complete 360 view next weekend.

Nice. I installed mine like 1-1/2 years ago when bought the 13" System. It was a complication to set the views in the 360view, but nevertheless very useful.
The wiring was not so complicate as I ran the Diode Dynamic mod to the side view lights, so I used the same power supply coming from the flashers to activate the camera view. You can run the wires in the same rubber boot through the door.

These are the same system. The screen is 15" but the bottom 1.5" is used for the climate readout.

Completed install of the 360 cameras.

Front camera: Perfect

Rear camera: Not sure I like the location next to the OEM rear camera. It's a tiny bit off axis and the tire cover really gets in the way. I will probably fabricate a holder to get it out past the cover and straight.

Side cameras: Work well except that they want to see either a part of the front fender (shown in the photo) or else the rear, depending on how they are twisted. I think this might be due to the slight angle of the underside of the side view mirror, which makes the camera slightly off vertical. Haven't had time to fully tweak this yet.

Overall view: the camera view integrates well but the seams are not perfect between cameras for a completely continuous view like my wife's brand new ride. There is some overlap in coverage.

What's the best place to currently purchase from?
I see they are available on both Amazon and Aliexpress
I would purchase from Amazon. Quicker shipping and easier return. The sellers with 2-3 day shipping on Amazon were not around a couple of months ago.
