I could not find a single decent dash cover on the net.

There are quite a number of companies which make some really good seat covers, such as Coverking, Clazzio, and Wet Okole - but there isn't a single one that does halfway - decent dash covers.

Do you have any recommendations / pics of such?

Try googling "Ultimat", or "The Original Dashmat"...they are nice. I have an ultimat in my truck, but I think only the original dashmat is available for the FJ

Just wanted to recommend this one, it's good.

With the gauge cluster serving as the linchpin, one doesn't need to apply any adhesive strips.

This mat's in black, and clears the airbags.

It looks much better than it does in this picture.

Received in the mail today and installed. So far so good.

It's a nice material—will be great for handling glare. I got the black color. The actual fit is impressive. All the cuts for the bends & curves are perfect. I opted to use the supplied Velcro™ strips to keep it down. It also came with a separate piece to cover the center top cluster, but I didn't use it. Looks better without it. I'll try to get some pics up.

Can I ask why get one of these? Is it for trying to protect the dash from UV rays? If so I would think that one of those sun shield in the windshield would be as effective and look a lot better, at least in my opinion.

But if there is a reason functionally that you use these covers then I might can see it, but the factory dash looks so nice and those look like such an afterthought to me.

I am not trying to offend anyone with these comments BTW, I just have always felt very strongly against the look of these in any vehicle. I can see them in a vehicle with a already very badly cracked and faded dash board, but other than that I would propose a sun shield FTW!

Yeah I've only ever owned a couple sun shields, but both have been a pain to put up. I imagine the factory ones fit better than whatever I had. Either way, too much work for me ;-)

However, I have two young children and a wife who doesn't care about cars, so if I don't protect my stuff, no one else will. And with the kids you'd be surprised what gets where! ;-)

Along those lines, I have a set of purpose-made rubber mats that go under each child seat to protect the seats, and a purpose-built cover on the seat backs for when the kids put their feet up on the seats. My last car was an Audi S4 and it just drive me up the wall trying to keep it clean with a young family, so I opted for a car I could hose out and worth half as much ;-)
