Ok, any idea on cost to get the unit replaced? I tow my trailer and would like to not have to worry about it if it's possible. Thanks!
Ultraguage is more accurate than fuel gauge.
Plugs into you OBDII port. Just reset at fill up. Plus you'll get all the other trip computing features.
$80 plugs in like a lego, 5 minute job. Calibrated after a few fill ups and mine is accurate to less than a half gallon, always.

Reporting a 2007 4wd that failed on me at 148k with the gauge stuck at a little less than 1/4 tank approximately at 4 gallons left. Thought I was getting really good gas mileage on the freeway one day until I completely lost power and managed to somehow get to the side of the road in 405 rush hour. Left me stranded, while I attempted to troubleshoot what I thought was an electrical problem. Tow truck finally showed up & put a gallon of gas in. Fired right up.
Purchased an ultragauge that seems to be working well. Thanks for the tip because I don’t feel like getting into the fuel tank.

Toyota made several changes to the 2010 to be E20 compatible, ethanol is hard on plastics, wether or not your float fails may or may not be related. See model year change comparisons provided by Toyota:

I am just rereading this thread. I got Deb to buy me a sender unit.... my FJ is part of the fuel pump recall so I hope I can get the dealer to fit this at minimal extra cost when they replace the pump. I see ther is also talk of the float, but I don’t see that as a part anywhere...can anyone confirm for me please

Thanks @thane... looks like the dealership would have to swap the float/sender unit onto the new pump anyhow so hopefully they’ll just fit the replacement for me. (Assuming I can get TGB to honour the recall in the first place!)

So you aren't using a gauge in the tank with Ultraguage. You just reset the Ultraguage to let it know how many gallons you put in and it calculates the amount of gas left?

Thanks

Joe

I have the oem gauge that is working in the oem tank, a float gauge in my aux tank, and ultragauge which get reset at each fillup tracking total fuel and remaining.

It is accurate to less than one gallon between fillups, after running 100 gallons through and inputing adjustment value.

If I only had one it would be the ultra gauge.
