This message is for those who have purchased 2013 FJ Cruisers;

If you are planning to install an aftermarket Bumper such as DeMello or Expedition One (or other brand which by design does not cover up the OEM windshield washer reservoir plastic container), and, you want to purchase the Expedition One Windshield Washer Fluid reservoir kit for relocating the factory location so that it's no longer handing down in plain sight, please note that the 2013 model FJ Cruiser has added an emissions box (air pump, to keep it simple here) in the same location as the Expedition One fluid bottle installs.

Expedition One is now aware of this issue and is working towards finding a solution for the 2013 FJ Cruiser model year. It's too early to know yet, but they are wanting to have a solution after the first of the new year.

Some of you may not have this emission addition on your 2013, but in the US, Texas specifically, mine does. :rocker:

Here's a link to the product;

i did the 9 mod... all you need is a cheap hole saw. i relocated it to the firewall behind the air box... and you can relocate all the hoses and extend the wires and it works like a charm.

Yes, this works out if you dont want to use this space for another Mod I suppose-- like an alternate battery site or perhaps the RiverRaider Snorkel(forthcoming).

oh we play in the rain and mud and on occasion the muddy puddle, but we never get into anything to need to ford so wont be needing the snorkle anytime soon.

Just got off the phone with Expone. Jackie said they have the new bottle made up but still working on the brackets and said to check back in a few weeks. They are looking for a 2013 victim in the Utah area.

Subscribed. I'm in the same boat. 2013 with the emissions pump. I too want to put a second battery in the rear compartment. Hope a new design doesn't use that spot.

I just installed an Expedition One Trail Series Bull Bar front bumper on my 2013 TT. Since the Expedition One reservoir doesn't appear to fit the 2013s, I contacted Expedition One for a solution. They now believe it will be sometime in July 2013 when their new reservoir installation will be available.

I guess I am going to have to rig something up to at least last until then. I can't live without a windshield washer for 4 months (at least for the front windshield).

sbarr,
Did you have to remove the stock reservoir for the Exp One Bumper to fit?

That was me. I will copy and paste it onto here. :bigthumb:

Copied from the other thread. :cheers:

Ok, so the original Expo-One bottle bracket lined up with two of the three pre-existing bolts where the dual battery would go. The third bolt didn't line up...so, I found a nut that fit the bolt and then measured the distance from the bolt to the bottle bracket. After I got that measurement, then I cut a piece of tubing that fit the diameter of the nut. I had a buddy of mine weld the two together and it worked like a charm.

As for the wiring, I'm working on that. I picked up some 14 gauge wire at Lowes and am using that to lengthen the male connector. The two motors that pump the washer fluid through the hoses each have a plug with a ground wire and a power wire, for a total of 4 wires. These are the plugs.

These four wires are wired to this male connector.

The male connector had to be lengthened to be able to reach this female connector which is located in the front passenger space behind the turn signal. I thought about lengthening the female end of it, but it wasn't going to happen.

So far I have the rear all soldered and working. Tomorrow I will work on the front and hopefully get it done. :bigthumb: I will post more pictures and info with the final results tomorrow. :cheers:

Well, it worked. I took pictures, but you can't see the wiring or anything like that. So I will try and explain it. I ran the wires from the washer bottle underneath the CAI and then I tried to fit it through the grommet, but that didn't work. So I just ran the wires up and over the top of the engine bay like this.

Talked to Jackie on the phone today. Bracket for the emissions pump is still not ready yet. The solution is to move the new emissions pump to the back by the firewall (2nd battery location), and install the bottle in the same place as the 2010-2012 kit.

This is a bummer. I'm not going to get an aftermarket bumper unless I can hide my reservoir (2013 FJ), and I won't add an aftermarket reservoir if it prevents me from adding a 2nd battery.

Nice effort TJPhotog :rocker:

It's basically purchasing a generic radiator overflow tank from any auto parts store for around $14, then drilling out two holes to fit your pump pickup lines into and mount it up in a blank space.
My $14 tank has been sitting on my garage table for several months, need to get that done. I've been without one for almost a year now and haven't really needed it that much. I do keep a water bottle/rag in my truck when it gets really dirty. But I live in the PNW where it rains enough to keep it clean, haha.

I tried the oreilly mod but i guess i drilled the hole too big so it leaked..

I ended up getting a washer bottle from an 07 at the salvage yard. I had to trim the battery mount but otherwise it fit perfectly.

Expedition One used my 2013 FJ as the "Guinea Pig" vehicle to make the new windshield reservoir relocation kit. I originally left my truck with them in the beginning of October for them to make the prototype, then last week they installed the prototype in my FJ. It looks great, it holds a lot of fluid (I think 2 gallons), it has an auxiliary battery tray built in, and it relocates the air pump back by the firewall. I know this will please a lot of 2013+ FJ owners who want to run 2 batteries. I imagine they will start producing and shipping soon.

Thanks Expedition One!
