I can't get the top nut off of the rear shocks...it just turns the shaft. I have been searching the forum for an hour and still not info. I tried using a pipe wrench on the collar that the shock cover snaps onto, but it also just seems to turn on the shaft.
I thought I would ask here before I turn to more drastic measures and start cutting.

I tried everything from a pipe wrench to fabricating a tool out of a nut with a welder. What worked for me was.... wait for it..... needle nose vice grips. Needed a bit of penetrating oil but the vice grips did the trick.

I put either a 7mm or 8mm wrench on top of mine and then broke them loose while my buddy held it. My buddy had small hands though lol

Damn, gettin' ready to go in on this one as well... Ain't Bringin' no knife to a gun fight... :bandit:

Okay, went after them with a vengeance... The seven mm open end wasn't enough to hold it... Closer inspection revealed they used thread locker on the nut so out comes the propane torch for 20 to 30 seconds of heat on the nut and then vise grips on the top to hold and they broke loose.....

I ran into the same issue when installing mine. i didn't have a saw handy, but did have access to a grinder. We ground a few flat spots on the shock shaft. Made it easy to grab with the vice grips.
