I am giving mine a shot tonight. My chosen location for the rear outlet is just above the AC plug in. I popped it out last night and besides the ribs on the back it should work perfectly.

Anyone know if there is constant power to the subwoofer?

Love the locations used in both. I plan to install 2 "Sealink - 12 Volt Receptacles", one in each location described above, running both from the fuse panel. Pictures to follow.

Ruebarb, sorry just saw your note ....

I took a standard spade terminal and trimmed down the width with wire
cutters so it fits into the "incoming" side of the fuse slot and plugged 'er in.
The accessory outlet has an inline fuse, so no need for a second fuse.

Still working on the wiring but I think it turned out nice.

Hey! That is nice. Was it completely flat behind that panel (i.e. no ribs)? It looks like you could mount up two:

Note: Photoshop Job...

There are slight ribs on the back. No problem to cut through with the hole saw. Plenty of room behind there for wiring etc - two could be added no problem. Nice use of the cloan tool BTW :)

The panel comes off easily - put a screw driver in the top and it just pops out.

Very nice, I don't have the inverter or the sub. I was thinking of adding a 12v in the same panel, was going to tap into the sub harness wiring for power, I think I'll need the sub switch to activate the wire though. I'm interested to see where you run the wires.

I did find constant power in the sub harness last night. I believe it's the white wire with a black stripe. It got dark so I didn't finish the install but that's good news for anyone wanting to add a port in the back without running a wire to the battery (or fuse box).

Nice work, but are you sure it is the white w/black stripe. In the front of the FJ, those were all the ground wires. Also did you need to have the sub button engaged?

I just checked it's white with blue stripe. And no I tested it with the sub switch in the off position - lite up the tester.
Scott,

Great info! How big is that wire? 12ga? 18ga? 24ga? Wondering how much current it can handle. I wonder what fuse it goes through?

There are 2 20A fuses for the stereo #17 & 27. So I'd assume one 20A was for the sub. Manual pages 321-322

The wire is probably 18 gauge. It's pretty small. For now I am going to tap it but in the future I might run a larger wire to the battery direct. I will report back if I blow any fuses this weekend. The ARB fridge will be in the truck alot.

Nice to hear, I've been think about putting an outlet back there, but I haven't had a need yet. I keep trying to think of a reason.

I used the outlet I installed in the rear (spliced into the sub constant power) for an entire week with my ARB fridge plugged in. No problems and no blown fuses.
Is their a ground point back there or did you use the ground on the harness or tap a screw into the abundant metal around the wheel well?

Ruebarb, come on, do you really have to have a need to add a power point...just do it so that if you do need it- it is there. We don't need to drive through the wilderness, but that is completely beside the point.
