Looking at picking up a 2014 FJ base, auto, rust free with 37k on the clock Cement Grey. Price is up there... $41,500 but it's local and thinking if I buy one I want it to last!
Owned multiple 4Runners and just bought another 2024 before they are gone thinking the two are so similar. Love our Runners always wanted the FJ just wasn't in position in the past.

Is this way too expensive? Was looking for a manual but hard to pass this up.

Thanks for the insight!

What part of the country has this one lived in? If it's truly rust free with that low of mileage, people will pay the asked price. Rust free low mileage FJ's are getting harder to find too. Some low mileage, rust free, garage queen FJ discoveries have gone for $80,000+, so the price for the one you found is probably not so out of line.

This is in Colorado, I have it reserved and will be doing a visual inspection this week. I know its up there in price but if everything checks out, I'm not sure I can find one like it again. I also am running into a lot of FJ's that have been wrecked so finding local, final year, low miles and one of my top 3 preferred colors. I might not be able to walk away.

Thank you for the information. Much appreciated! I will keep you all posted. The rust is the only thing that I am questioning until I see in person.

Looks great. If no rust, I think it’s a fair asking price when you consider the current market for that year, condition, and mileage.

Get a Carfax to see what history there is. Also, download the Toyota app and enter the VIN to see any Toyota service history and where it was originally purchased.

Good luck!

That price is up there, but you already know how phenomenal that mileage is. If you’re comfortable with that price that’s really all that matters. FJ prices are all over the spectrum, so not a great answer out there in my opinion. Priced over book value and about $10,000 over original retail. A Bronco is the only really comparable new suv that you can get around that price, but I suspect the FJ would outlast it still.

Agree 100% I was originally looking at spending $20,000-$30,000 and to be under 100k on the clock if clean but during my hunt this popped up local so here I am on this one. Yeah like I said I have a 4Runner and have had many, I am selling my Jeep that I have had for less than 6 moths and just love the drive, simplicity and reliability of the 4Runner. But for that reason the Wrangler is loaded with tech that I feel is just a problem waiting to happen.

I couldn't agree more an FJ will long outlast a new anything.... really. Too much EPA and tech for my liking.

Thank you for your thoughts

The FJ is less complicated technically and more reliable as well, if you find one that's been taken care of and isn't infected with frame rust. It's a good thing you've found one that has under 100,000 miles. Most higher mileage automatic transmission FJ's have never had the ATF flushed, so it's usually been neglected and many have had transmission problems crop up, sometimes expensive problems. If you purchase this FJ, save yourself future trans problems and change or flush the ATF. Even though it has only 37,000 miles, that fluid is now 10 years old and should be replaced. I don't have a lot of mileage on my FJ, but since it's a 2011, the fluid was 13 years old, so I performed 3 pan drain and fills to refresh it. I plan on doing a yearly drain and fill to keep it maintained.

Couldn't agree more! Yeah I am really hoping that rust is a none issue.... Yeah I am also a older early 2000's Honda/Acura guy and never flush the trans, always drain and refill. Too much risk in flushing. So I'm glad to hear that you drained and refilled x times to refresh. If it comes together I will look at that right away.

Thank you again all the input is super helpful!

It looks GREAT from the pictures. I would thoroughly inspect the frame for rust, but doubtful if you will find any to be concerned about. I also noticed there is no hitch. Not a BIG deal - you can still add the factory hitch parts if you want. Since the button panel is blank I am curious if this one has a Crawl Control panel by the rear view mirror with ATRAC and Rear Diff Lock buttons. ATRAC can be easily added with the addition of the button alone, but not the rear locker. Anything else this "base" model is missing can be easily added to your liking.

Looks to be a great deal.

+1, if you do a hitch PLEASE do the factory hitch parts and not one of the aftermarket ones that stick down an extra 3-4 inches and cut into your departure angle.

What do you want to do with the FJ? Daily drive it, offroad it, bring it to Colorado for some fun?(!!!) If you plan to offroad it, you'll want to remove that front "grill guard" (which is just a damage multiplier if it hits anything) and those bigger wheels when it's time to replace the tires. If you just want to daily drive it, it's fine as is.

For the year/miles the price is actually really good. I'd want to confirm via Carfax where the truck has lived, rust amount, risk of flood etc.

I am undecided at the moment, when I started this hunt was looking for a Manual and around 100k miles hoping to be 20-25k price. That I wiould just playing with update a few things here and there trail it, some rookie off road/trails. But given this gem that I might have found, I may just partial daily drive as I have a few other toys and try to keep in mint condition.

Either way I am not big on the grill guard nor wheels, but have an extra set of TRD 4Runner wheels that I plan to install. Likely keep it OEM and maybe a touch more. but with most of my toys that can change from one day to the next.

Thanks!

IMO: This price is in-line with the market or possibly a little low—definitely fair if no prior accidents/paintwork. I have a pair of FJ’s, both have less than 33k miles and it took me years to find them with low miles, low corrosion. Price economics work on scarcity with all other things being equal. The crawl control is a considered a really nice option, tires look to be KO2’s (!) but i am not a fan of the polyurethane steering wheel.

Update!

I decided to continue looking and pass this rig up just had a hard time parting with the price tag.
BUT……

I was able to find a super clean 2007 with 65k on the clock and honestly a cleaner interior than the 14’ and half the price!

I plan to pick up this week but wanted to share with you all.
