I did a search and it turned up nothing.

On a recent road trip, the passanger airbag started saying "off" when my wife (about 120 pounds) was sitting in the passanger seat. Now, sometimes it says off and sometimes on. It hasnt said off for me sititng in the passagner seat.

Anyone else? Obvioulsy I plan to take it in, but wanted to check to see about others. Thanks for any info....

I believe that the seat has sensors that detect both body weight and mass to determine if say, a child susceptible to extreme or fatal airbag injuries, is occupying the seat.
edit : Children 12 and under should be in the rear seats for their own safety.
A grown adult of 120 lbs should not trigger the sensor to shut down the airbag. My wife is small too, but I have not noticed it disengage.

Now, my oldest daughter is 5'0'' and around 90 lbs and the indicator goes back and forth each time she occupies the seat.

Take it to your dealer and have it checked. Be safe.

I definetly plan to take it in, but you know how it goes with intermitent problems at a dealership. I guess I can get her in it and go by the dealer when it is 'off' to show them, if need be. I wanted to see if this was on the list of common things gone wrong like the pulling/drivers seat not locking in/windshield etc. - sounds like it is not. thanks

Get her a 20 lbs boob job. That should solve all problems. She'll have enough weight to trigger the airbag, she'll have enough cushion if you get in a wreck, and she'll have some fun bags for you to play with. :rocket:

i had a cust bring a KIA into the dealer one day complaining of the same thing.we are kia, mitsu, toy, suzuki dealer.we couldnt get it to act up so i took a ride with the customer.the daughter was sitting in the passenger front seat.as soon as we took off the air bag off light came on.i was sitting in the back seat.looked up front the daughter had her legs crossed in the passenger front seat.i asked her to put her feet on the floor & the light operated properly.this is just a thought for ya.dont get me wrong i am not trying to show fault just offering a suggestion.if she is sitting flat in the seat then take it in for sure.
