I just found out today by accident that I have remote start on my fj. I have a 2007 that I bought three months ago. My question is how does it work.

It must be after market. I don't think the fj has that option at least for the 07

X2. It's not a factory option. Post a picture of the key fob/remote start remote.

Not very well or for very long. As a 20 year vet of the car repair world..... I'd say have it professionally removed and pray the hack who installed it didn't screw up the wiring too bad..... My biggest headache at work is usually aftermarket electrical crap.

YMMV RON

Yeah I have an aftermarket remote start/alarm system and whoever wired it up did a TERRIBLE wiring job. It's just an absolute mess down there, but at least it works good. I just hope that everything in your system is set up well. But yeah post up a pic of it or tell us what kind of system it is. Mine is a Compustar.

I have had mine on since new and other than replacing the battery and the case for the key fob because I broke it I have had no problems at all......and in the climate that I live in it gets used lots in the winter which can be up to 6 mths...Usually there will be a start button and one that operates the door locks as well...Once started the vehicle will run for a programed set amount of time usually about 15 mins and then it will shut off...Some of the better ones will also be able to be programed to start the vehicle once the coolant gets below a certain temp or at set times during the evening..
