How much mileage is too much on a 2007 FJ for a supercharger install?

It depends.

A Magnussen S/C based on the TRD design ought to be fine on just about any mileage engine which is in good shape, as it was set up to provide about 25~30% increase without unduly shortening the engine's life.

Other maker's S/C, or modifications of the TRD based design to get more power: smaller diameter drive wheels, 7th injectors + bigger fuel pump, etc. put more stress on and so your results may vary.

A follow-up question... Has anyone on the forum installed a S/C for towing a travel trailer? I have a 3500 lb r-pod that seems to pull fine behind the FJ, but I was thinking an S/C might help pulling up the mountains when I take it out west. i have 170K miles on my manual transmission FJ. Thoughts?

"towing a travel trailer, Thoughts?"
a 25~30% power increase will certainly help you with trailer towing.
Being forced air it also helps a lot with thin mountain air (the reason why I sprung for my S/C).

Regarding longevity, reading through the other threads on here, by S/C customers, it seems the biggest maintenance items are drive belt and eventually S/C bearings/oil change (and eventually, re-coating the compressor lobes). Carry a spare belt with you, and when the day comes to have its bearings redone there are vendors who will do it, and how-to guides if one wanted to do it themselves.

"With that mileage..." - I was wondering what mileage OP has, but they didn't say.
Someone else posted after OP asking if their 170k engine would be ok.
I am kind of curious about it myself, as I have over 100k miles on my S/C FJ (with MT) and going strong. It would be interesting to hear of what kind of miles folks get out of their S/C 1GR-FE FJ/Tacoma engines, and if its the same 400k+ miles the normally aspirated ones get.

Depends on the condition of your engine. If it's lived an easy life and proper maintenance, i probably wouldn't hesitate. If the engine has any problems, it will manifest when you start shoving more air and fuel in there. The proper generally accepted method, if all maintenance is up to date, would be to perform a compression test and leak down. These tests would further confirm that your engine is performing within recommended parameters. We don't know your current mods or histor but if towing hasn't been an issue, the s/c would definitely make it more fun.

I don't have any problems adding the super charger to a well taken care of high mileage engine. Would a person take a super charger off their engine at a certain mileage due to reliability concerns? I seriously doubt it. Once you drive the FJ with a supercharger, I don't think there's any practical way to go backwards to N/A.

I just finish installing my TRD Supercharger, my FJ has 133,000.
