Tinkerer's Adventure latest video compares the FJ to the new Land Cruiser. Spoiler alert ... you'll love your FJ even more! Thanks, Kai!

Wow, interesting. I would have expected the new hybrid lineup to be pretty much identical frame down. But while LC has same diffs and weak (angle) CVs as the FJ, the new GX/4R/Taco have upgrades? Worse than stock FJ approach/breakover/departure despite bigger tires? Worse than stock FJ on-road manners despite the fancy new swaybar? All while being pricier than the GX/4R/Taco.

Good to know I should continue to avoid being in the market for a new 4x4 for the forseeable future. Last year I still thought $45k was rich for the 2-door Bronco Sasquatch my wife's dad picked up, yet its stock capabilities are on par with my $10-15k in mods. Good on Ford. I really wish it were a Toyota, or at least what I still imagine the brand implies, which seems to be fading with a quickness.

Very interesting insight on what upgrades some of the other "Offroad" Tacoma models received (better CV axles etc...) and sounds like I won't be purchasing a new LC any time soon. Hopefully the 6th gen 4runner has some more offroad goodies.

Toyota had a chance with this new LC but looks like a miss for anything but city driving with amenities to match. (unless you wanna lift and 35's to try and compete offroad with the older models)

I test drove a 2026 LC and decided that I like my FJ a lot better. The drive was just around town and the slow driving was difficult because it wanted to lurch and then when it shut off at a light, I just lost it and decided to abort the drive. It sits a little higher than stock FJ and the controls were just....weird. Sorry, not a fan and the slightly better MPG is not compelling enough to dowgrade my driving experience. I am a little disappointed but not crushed. Wanted a better ride for cross country trips. Guess it will be a second car, maybe a Tesla, for long travels.
