Hey... brand new, first post.... been looking into buying a FJ for myself, just looking to see if anyone has any "I wish it didn't..." or "it would be nice if" about their FJ... We only have one Toyota dealership in Alaska so we dont see to many FJs come up here, so I want to make sure there's nothing horrible about it before I have to make a special order... I have a two year old, the back seat looks pretty cramped from specs and pictures... anyone have any back seat experience?

Let me know peoples... thanx

Do some searches on here. The things you are looking for have been discussed many, many , many times over.

As a short answer...everyone will find something they don't like about every car they own. The question is: Can you live with it? As far as the back seat, I have a 9 yr old and a 5 yr old. They LOVE riding in the FJ. If you like the style and you teat drive one and like the ride, I say don't hesitate...go git you one.

BTW...welcome to the forum and don't forget to post pics WHEN you get yours...you know you will!! :roller:

we had a thread on this around a month ago.....there were some good posts in it....I'd search for it if I wasn't on Dialup at the moment......

Do a simple search, should be able to find it pretty easily....

Hi Frozen FJ, I am new here too. I can tell you that if I could do it over again I would be sure to get all the options, as I did, but I would have financed in a new ARB Recovery Winch Bumper w/ the Warn 9.5XP winch from Jump Street. The front of the FJ, stock, is pathetically weak, well, it is all plastic and to protect your loved ones just do as I recommend. ALSO, the OE rock rails Toyota sells are tougher then most, they add an INCREDIBLE amount of side impact protection to the family and they will laugh at ice crusted snow drifts you may inadvertently slide into someday. AllProOffRoad.com has a nice rear bumper that is metal that I am considering if they can get added fuel to hang off it as well. Additionally allprooffroad.com has the Walker Evans Shock set up which is not mandatory if your use the rig loaded w/ the bumper and winch in front, so long as you ONLY use it as a daily driver but if you do ANY speed, off roading, turns w/ G forces you really need to upgrade the suspension. Be sure to get the rubber mats all the way around for Alaska as well. Most of all JUST BUY IT. You will not be disappointed.

Orange Dash Lights (center lights vs white guages)
The Tri-pod
Poor Interior Lighting
Cheap Windshield
Body Mounts need to be trimmed, no apparent reason they are designed that way
Roof rack retainer system is cheesy (clips in headliner)
Cheap plastic bumper wings, cheap skip plate

Besides that I love it! - really, that much to ***** about considering this the first year and all. Much more enjoyable daily driver than my H1 was that is for sure.

The only windows that roll down are the front windows.

What the fawk was Toyota thinking????????? I want to put those Toyota engineers in my back seat and drive them for about 8 hours...and then ask why the windows in the half doors dont move AT ALL! :fight:

I never got to "teat" drive one . Is that a NO variant?

i dont like the running boards, as they are unnecessary and i have to step over them, today getting out in the rain i go my pant leg all wet. but that is an easy fix. and i dont really like the lack of a sunroof. the cupholders and sotrage areas are either tough to find or are in weird spots. i wish it had front and corner front and rear parking sensors, not just two rear sensors. and i really wish it had heated seats. call me a pansy, but i know what i like. maybe i just find these things because i have only had mine a few days and am not used to it yet, but they are so insignificant compared to how much i really do love about my FJ, that they are easy to forget about.

Hey... brand new, first post....

With the front seats all-the-way-back, the car seat for our 3yr old daughter MUST go in the middle of the back seat... or else there is simply no room for her legs. My elbow/arm gets kicked often but I don't mind that; and the middle of the back seat is the safest place.

With a car seat in the back middle, that doesn't leave much room on either side for another kid. We've got 2 kids and so far the four of us haven't gone anywhere in the FJC. Won't be a problem once the youngest moves into a booster.
