Nope but they do sell heat sleeves that you put over your intake tubes on a certain auction site for pretty cheap and they come in different colors. I might try one and see if it works at all at bringing the intake temps down since metal intake tubes get heat soaked pretty easy.

I use the foam aluminum tape as WarWagon stated on my WRX on my end tanks of my intercooler since its right above my turbo and it does wonders at keeping the intercooler cool in trafic but not sure how benificial the tape or wrap is going to be on the FJ since the engine compartment doesnt get as hot as a vehicle with force induction.

ok, question. haha, I'll start with a statement then work my way into the question I guess. All years of Tundra have a coolant line off the water pump leading into the throttle body. Does the FJ have this as well?? I'd bet a dollar that it does:)

Most OEM's use this to keep the throttle body from freezing open and sticking. If you insulate you intake tube any benefit would be stolen by the throttle body.

On the Tundra forums we've come to the conclusion that you may bypass the throttle body coolant year round if you live south of the Mason/Dixon line. If North of the line you should re-connect in early fall just to be safe.

I've had my 03 Tundra in Big Bear sub freezing weather and totally forgot about the coolant bypass in my throttle body, no freezing but it's a scary thought.

My intake is actually cold to the touch after climbing a long grade no matter the outside temp, and no matter the underhood temps. That engine is displacing 4.7L of air every full revolution of the engine, at 2500 rpm hat's a lot more cold air than underhood hot air.

It's really easy to do a coolant bypass, you just unplug the small hose leading to the throttle body and plug it into where the throttle body normally goes back into the water pump....if that makes sense hhaaha

The coolant flowing through the TB also aids in cold starts so food for thought there. If you don't like waiting to warm up your engine on cold mornings, regardless of whether it's actually cold enough to freeze shut, so there is regular joe everyday applicability to keeping it in the loop.

As for how significantly the bypass will help performance? I'd be it'll help as much as the cool tape....0% I actually tried this procedure on a vehicle where it could have mattered. The 500whp Evo I used to have. My tuner said that for all the years I had bypassed the coolant though the TB he never really saw any noticeable difference between my intake temps and those others that he tuned under similar conditions. So yeah expect nil in performance if you do it. But psychologically if it makes you feel better go for it hehe

Driving around town I am constantly withing 2-3 degrees of ambient temp with my snorkel and CAI. Prior to the snorkel (just CAI) I averaged 12 degrees above. The snorkel is the answer!

Sent from my S4. Disregard horrible spelling and bad grammar.
