look at the Keystone Hobbi, we are thinning the same thing about hauling quads and these weigh in at 4k

Unloaded the 180 Hobbi weighs in at 4500 (per their web site, dealers are listing it at less sometimes) - before water, equipment, quads, etc... Soon as you put a single quad in it it will go almost over 5000. Fill the water tank and you are way over (415lbs for 50 gallons). But it is very close...It's pretty light for it's size at 23' long overall. Plus they are almost $20k average for one.

There's the charger 16', it's smaller and base weight is 3800, but once you start putting stuff in...

Iv'e been looking at getting into the sport of ATV's and at the same time been looking at ways to transport them. Ive been entertaing the idea of a toyhauler, but so far i can't find a model that is within the FJ's weight limits. I gues i don't nessasarly need a toy hauler, but would like somthing that is enclosed with a living quarters. Just curious to see if anyone here has found a model that cound work with the FJ. Thanks for any help.
Have you thought about the Fun Finder Xtra? The 19 foot has a 3465 dry weight and the FJ can haul up to 5000 pounds. With a quad in there and water it couldn't be more than 5000, also the 20 foot for 2 quads is 3995 dry weight. Or the other 20 foot is 4255 dry weight. They hold 2 quads. We have done lots of research and these are the only toy haulers that we could find that were light enough for the FJ.

My uncle has a small flatbed trailer that is perfect for atv's. it has a ramp that will come down from the side for one atv to be driven on and then one on the rear for a second atv. He hauls two full size ATV and one childrens atv on it all the time with a little ford ranger so I'm sure the FJ could pull it with no trouble.

I bought my toy hauler from Dune Sports. I went with the 18 foot Monsoon weighing in at 3280 lbs. dry. I have 2 sport quads that will be loaded plus all our gear/ water/ sewer. I'm thinking it'll be right around 5,000 lbs at the end of the day. I have planned a 14,000 mile cross country road trip for this summer and I'm fully confident that the FJ will be ok towing it. So far, I've put on about 300 miles towing it around Phoenix without any issues. The wind can push it around a bit but I never left the lane. Dune Sport was good and I would reccommend them to you. Feel free to contact me with any questions.

They seem a little big for the FJ. I currently pull 5 ATV's with an open trailer tandem axle. Loaded with gear weighs in around 4500 lbs. FJ does great pulling it and no handling problems. The weight of the toy hauler along with ATV's and gear would definitely overload the FJ. I would love one, but would use my other vehicle to pull it with. Also would like a Class A motorhome with toy hauler built in. Put the ATV's in the motorhome and pull the FJ. Best of both worlds.
We have been looking at them as well. The best one we can find for the FJ is the Funfinder xtra XT190. Everything else is too heavy. You don't want to pull it with water and a Quad though. We will be taking 4 mountain bikes so that should be fine. Lightest toy hauler we could find. Right price too, Google cruiser RV.

The FJ would have no trouble at all pulling the XT 190.
based on what? size? drive a short wheel base FJ in high winds with a trailer that has that much surface area and weight. see where that takes your FJ to. like i said, towing my wakeboard boat isnt an issue, but wind doesnt really effect it. i dont really have the braking power even with trailer brakes. i have a TPD race trailer that i absolutely wont tow with my FJ. its a tandem axle 14x7 with about a 20ft overall length. with that much surface area, it takes a full size half ton for a ride. the trailer will significantly overpower the vehicle. bad things happen with too much trailer and too little of a tow vehicle.

and lets once again state that the FJ is not a tow vehicle. for pulling regularly, i would want anything less than a 3/4 ton diesel. especially for a toy hauler.

:mecry: I would have to agree with that statement, just because you can tow it doesn't mean you should. In a heavy side wind you would have a handful and hill climbing will be effected alot. FJ mirrors are totally useless for towing also. But if you must tow a toy hauler check out a Desert fox, they use to have a 17' model that was pretty lite, don't remember what it was been a couple years since i checked it out

I think I'm a year late but DO NOT purchase from Dune Sport. I had never towed before and they assurred me that the tounge weight was in the weight they had posted on their sight. Then I get it a MONTH late, 1,600 miles away, and it had all kinds of issues found during the walk thru. I don't think they even quality checked it before delivery. Then come to find out the salesperson was wrong and now I have an additional 700lbs of tounge weight! All they care about is the sale, not your saftey!! Pass it on to your friends...I'm contacting the BBB as well:flame:

I've been talking to this co Dune Sport Toy Haulers you can bild one that will work I hope ,,let me know if it works for you
i had a sour experience with dune sport. they lied about the weight, they were a month late delivering....then when it was 1,600 miles to my house it was poorly built. decals on poorly, lights crooked, cabinet chip and panel cracked, screen door damage and screws comming out, bath door frame not sqaure and door hard to open and close, 2 outlets not working, tanks/or monitor not correct...now its in the shop for over 3 weeks to fix all the issues that should've been caught before it was brought to me...buyer beware!:flame:

Check out Cikira RV. They look to have some well built and light Toyhaulers. Ive seen good reviews of their hybrids as that as what we are looking at.
