I want to change my brake lights, turn signals, and what not all to LED, has any body done this? If so, what did you go with and how do you like it?

I did on mine. you need a new flasher relay , or resistors wired in so they blink at a normal rate. you can get all the leds at autolumination.com

Have noticed them being brighter?

yes they are a TON brighter, and the reds are REALLY red like blood red. not a orangy red. Ill get some pictures at night if you'd like im still in the process of changing them all over because its freezing here and i don't have a heated garage.

Thanks. I'd be interested in seeing the pics.

Bit pricy...$290 to $400+

i like the look of the stock housings, u just wanted LED light from it, so changing the bulbs does that, while keeping the stock housing look. Im not a big fan of the clear altelzza look.

Me too.

ok then order up the correct lights you need and slap them in. Ill take some pictures in a bit when its a little darker outside. Im still waiting in the mail for my toyota flasher that will replace the stock one, and keep the flashers rate the same. If it is the correct one ill let you know everything if you would like to do this.

No luck finding 7443?

edit: oops. misread. Thought you were looking for brake light.

7440A are the same as 7440 but the A stands for AMBER. so get the 7440 in either amber or white depending on what color you can have your turn signal in your state and you are good to go.

the red looks better in person, but since the assembly uses a lot of reflection behind the bulb and the ones i have in are leds only on the tip it dosnt reflect a lot. Im going to switch to a new bulb with leds on the sides and front so it reflects a ****load. here is my white ones for my license plate, and driving lamps. They are really white, the picture looks a little blueish but i assure you its white, because i wouldn't not want it blue as the cops situation.

Would you mind writing something up, I am interested in installing LEDs as well. Something with what type of lights for which part of the car and what equipment, etc.. Please! :)

Question, if I decide to buy these, how easy is it to open the brake lights to install them and what additional things do I need?

#32 ·
you just take off the cover from the inside in the cargo area, and you just twist the light socket out pull bulb out put new one in and then put back in twist, and put cover back in, as far as everything besides turn signals. if you do turnsignals then you need either a new flasher relay or wire in some resistors, or they will blink fast. because it uses less power and the car will think the bulbs are out when they really arnt.

Which ones are the brake lights then? and hows does the relay work, does it install right there??

I just installed complete LED taillights on my FJC (first set in the USA !!!). I put them in to test at Calico Clean-Up, and they work and look awesome. No electrical changes, no mods, direct replacement, and DOT approved for all 50 states. Exact same dimensions as the factory lights, but for much less, and they are brighter, have a faster reponse, and look COOOOL !!!

(and no individual, non-legal bulbs to mess with, or flashers to change...)

I'll try to post pics after it stops raining....

I have oredered the brake lights, side mirrors, and license ones. If all goes well, reverse and signals are next. If I do the signal ones, what do I need and where do I put them?
