First of all, I really like the ease of using the Fumoto valve on my FJ. However, why does it take so long to drain? From the time I open the valve until all the oil is drained out of the pan it can be an hour or more. Is it just me or is this how the Fumoto valves work? I realize the opening is a lot smaller than the drain pan bolt so obviously it's going to take longer...but that long? Any other Fumoto users want to chime in on this?

I don`t have one but have been reading posts on these for years and I think that's just how they work. Much faster to just take a socket under the FJ for a second. The oil drains is a couple minutes and only takes about 15 minutes to change the oil. 
Don't have one, been thinking on it.

Mine drains faster than that - I warm it up and open the fill cap first. Its slower than using the OE method, but way easier IMO
I do open the fill cap to vent the crankcase but, when I last changed the oil I didn't warm up the engine first. I'll remember to warm up the oil next time and see if that helps speed up the draining.
I use these on both FJs and they drain much faster. I've been using a DIY garage for a few years and when I drive in for maintenance I open the drain first thing. By the time I'm done with 2 air filters and 6 zerks, the oil's already drained.
You should take the valve out and check for some obstruction on top of the opening. Mine only takes about 10 mins.
It's actually nice. Throw the catch pan down, pop the skidplate cover, open the valve, open the hood, pull the old filter, wipe the excess out of the filter housing with a few paper towels, then grab a beer or two and chill. You don't even get dirty, at least on the 07-09s.
Later on I set a board across the trash can and dump the used oil back into the new bottles and use it for various garage tasks, chain saw bar oil, or getting a fire going.

If you've been wheeling, mud can get up in the opening of the valve too.
I had that happen to me last time, and it took forever! I took a little allen wrench and pushed up. A chunk of mud popped out and the oil flowed like normal.
It still takes a bit, but much easier than a regular oil change.
