FJ Cruiser is the model, Toyota is the manufacturer.

 

GSJ15...I believe it's in the FAQ sticky in the Intro forum

 

Remember it's engine code and model, so 'F' is for an in-line 6 ('B' was a 4 cyl diesel) and the 'J' is for jeep. As we don't have an in-line 6, no F for us. I guess the V-6 is code GS...

I was looking at Toyota's history like FJ45's, FJ55's, etc, etc. Just curious as to where our FJ Cruiser fall under.. An interesting note...the person that turned me unto Toyota's was my grandfather. He always talked about his "boys", AK10(?) and BJ25 that he kept while in Australia. Always talked about them being the camels of the desert.

I too will look at the literature again to see what it is referred as.

G= designates DOHC

FE= F is "head design", E is Fuel injected
or FE=Fuel Injected


GSJ15

G= engine family (1GR-FE)
S= ?? (I think it stands for sexy but that's me)
J= Japan, origin of manufacture
15=4wd FJC body
10=2wd FJC body

Well, Toyota has nothing to do with those numbers. They all come from the EPA, and I don't put to much trust in them these days
