Re: 2011 Lone Star Toyota Jamboree January 14-16, 2011

...
Anywho, back to the topic: Does anyone know the condition of the trails, since we had that bodacious tropical weather? Seems like every time there's some serious rain more of the trails get eroded...
Several of us were out there last weekend. Below is a post from the member section of the TTR forum. (BTW, I think Cooper's account of the truck mods are pretty accurate, although I have a rear locker and and am on 34's)

It was a great trip! It was hot/humid during the day but it cooled down nicely for sleeping. Warren took pics and video (hopefully we'll see the video this year.. :D)

It was Ross' inagural run in his red 4runner. He did everything we did in the morning (he was open-open). I was impressed.

Morning Group (should help with trail selection for Jambo guided runs): Me (tacoma, locked f&R, geared w/ 33s), Jonathan (pickup, locked f&R, solid axle, geared w/ 37s), Warren (1st gen 4runner, locked f&r, solid axle, geared w/ 33s), Ross (1st gen 4runner,open/open, solid axle, stock gearing w/ 33s?), and Ron (FJ Cruiser, locked rear? w/ ATRAC, stock gears, with 33s?)

In the morning, we ran Desi-Way, Linda Gail, down Solihul, up Angry Jeep, down Clydes (there is a new bypass that goes around the damaged section of the trail), up Spider's Ravine, Scorpion's Overlook, up Pine Hill Run.

In the afternoon (Ross rode with Warren), we did Binder's Blvd, Politician, Jerry Paul's, X-way into Old Camp, and up Clyde's.

Jonathan made it up Clyde's crack (twice) and was able to conquer Twister.

AFAIK, no damage other than new pinstriping (some of the trails were overgrown).

Will the campfire at Rover camp have a safety fence around it this year?

Webpage and a sheetload of other details are in the works. Last year registration was opened in mid October. Stay tuned to this thread for announcements.

I think the rover camp crew needs to start singing practice. I say this year we try to get heard at the front gate during our rousing rendition of David Allen Coe

I have been practicing. Or we could just get more people.

:thinkerg:
The answer is simple. We need to get a song list formed early enough for us to all to learn the songs. Granted, many of us know most of the songs, but wouldn't it be great if all of us knew all the songs? Maybe we could hand out lyric sheets to the unprepared folks.

Is it too late to change the location to Hidden Falls...just sayin:rocker:
Already locked in to BMRA. Details worked out to close the park over a month ago.

No kidding... much better park... much closer to home.
Maybe not closer to home for me, but my vote will be to move Jambo to HF for future events. The Pavillion alone...

I was surprised to find that the mileage from my house is almost exactly the same to both BMRA and HF. I agree that the pavilion at BMRA is way too small for the Jambo now, it takes a lot of the fun out of the dinners to have to wait for a place to sit. The pavilion at HF is a Cadillac setup for sure.
