Any Easy Setup and Removable CB Kits?

I would like to get a simple and easy to use CB radio that I can set up quickly for a trail run, but that can be removed quickly and easily after said trail run. My FJ is my daily driver and I don't want to have a big antenna hanging off the rear door hinge and a CB box taking up cabin space at all times. I just want to be able to communicate on the trail when I'm offroading. At the same time though, I'd like a CB radio that will actually work on the trail. Does something like that exists, or do you pretty much have to hardwire a radio with a giant antenna? I found a couple handheld CB radio options, but the reviews explained that they get terrible reception from inside a vehicle, which to me pretty much makes them useless.

Well I am not sure of the hand held's I have never had any luck with them inside a car. If you get a Bandi mount and a quick disconnect on it you can take the antenna off when you are done and some one on here had a setup that hooked over the back of the center console catch box. Seems like that would be fast to set up and take out when needed. Just run the antenna cable permanent and the CB off a Cig lighter plug.

i have the midland. have the antenna installed with the outside quick disconnect and antenna coupler installed in the floor console.

take the cb out of the glove box and plug it in. when done, unplug and put away. remove external antenna with a twist and put away.

I have the same setup as the two above posts and love it! You can make it as permanent or as temporary as you like. I got all of the parts, especially the magic grommet, from Vegas Nick on here. Look him up. He'll set you up nice!

Thanks Baz!

Couple different ways to go here. The one that is top of my list for something that is removable is the 75-822 with an external (but removable) antenna. That combo is one of the best I have seen. It still requires running a coax and having a 4ft external antenna. You can use a Wilson Lil Wil mag mount but it doesn't perform quite as well as the 4ft Firefly does.

Second up is the same external antenna mount and a Cobra 75. The 75 requires wiring into the power of the truck where the 75-822 has a cigarette lighter plug.

Both are excellent radios!
Feel free to PM me if you want further details/comparisons.

^^^ go with the Midland as Nick suggested. I bought my whole setup from him and it's awesome. No one would even know I had a CB with the quick disconnect on the antenna. And, it's mobile if necessary.
