Does new transmission fluid expire if its in a never opened sealed bottle? Its about 3 years old. Its been in a pretty warm shed in the summer and then very cold winter. I have about 3 bottles. I don`t want to waste it but I sure as hell don`t want to use it if its going to damage the trans. :)

Same question, I thought I read somewhere that it had a shelf life. Not sure anymore. I have 8 quarts sitting in my garage, waiting for the next drain and fill in either my brother's 4runner or my FJC....

All oils break down over time and the molecular structure can be manipulated with heat and cold. ATF doesn't have any detergents in it, so shelf life is pretty good. If I find a bottle of any automotive fluid or oil that's been on the shelf for longer than 10 years, I usually give it away or poor it into one of my old trucks or just use it in general oil pump type squirt bottles for general lubrication duties until it's gone. This can take years too though. 3 years is nothing, I'd put that right in any of my Toyotas or my Chevelle. I wouldn't think twice about it.
