EDIT: Repair photos on post #45

If any owners of this bumper (Or any bumper that uses the stock tabs only, for mounting) need to use your winch....do this mod first or the bumper will rip off the truck....Well....pull it almost off....the frame tabs pull out about 2 inches and flex down about 1/2 inch.....

Here's the plate I welded in....an absolute FIX!!!! I had the rig hanging from a tree to test it....then have done some very difficult winch recoveries that tested it hard enough to smoke the winch....no problems at all.....

BellyDoc and myself will be having surgery on Tuesday night to cut this plate and replace my winch....then we will modify this bumper the way AP should have done it in the first place....A new fix will be put inplace and the top of the bumper that rips your whole front end off will be cut back and re-done

I will post the results of that for all to see....

The reason for this fix was this....

I was set up for a big week long run on Saturday morning.....

On Friday night I recovered SealClubber from quicksand.....

The bumper was trashed and I had about 30 minutes to prepare for a week long trip....

That was three months ago and it's still holding....at least 15 recoveries later.....

When you're done questioning my reasons or ways....finish reading the post and see the part about BellyDoc and I making a "Real" solution......

When that is finished ....I will post pics of a long term solution....

All-Pro said they would send me a re-inforcement plate for free.....That was three months ago....I ain't got three months....I'll build my own and give the free one away if it ever actually exists and I get one...

But I'm not gonna' pull an Uphill and trash thier company either....It is what it is....A $700 dollar bumper....about $300 less then everyone else....I'll spend the three hungee if I have too so this thing is what I want....I think it'll be more like ten bucks.....

OH....And Speedy busted an axle the last time we wheeled together:rofl::rofl:

Now, you definitely don't have to worry about someone stealing your bumper, seeing as how it is welded to the frame! haha.
In order to remove the bumper, you have to cut that steel plate, right???

Looking forward to the real fix. Will you post it here or in a different thread?

Large pieces of steel have left my bumper!!!!

All-Pro "should" send me a new grill....and hood latch....and headlight surounds....

But I'm not gonna' ask....I'll post up when we are done....but the damage to the rest of the rig has come to a stop!!!

Thanks BellyDoc....You are the man!!!!!!!

Photos to follow in a few days.....of the damage and the solution!!!

They should send me a new hood latch and grill as well.
Can't wait to see the new fix!....
I still think your original fix was the best Kurt!
Damn jonnie....you still out killin' fires????? Come home and wheel with us brotha'!!!

The original fix kept the bumper on the truck when I used the winch.....didn't do a damn thing for frame flex....bumpers are conected to frames....hoods are connected to bodys.....2 1/2" rubber bushings connect the two....

Ya' think maybe they(all-pro) would have known that???? being they are in the off road business!!!!!

Anyway....when the rig flexes....the bumper smashes into the front end and rips off everything in it's path....AND the bumper is CONNECTED to the HOOD LATCH!!!!! WTF????? That connection self destructed in the first two days....the hood hasen't closed correctly since....

After Doc and I are done....All-Pro can send me a check for the "Correct" desiegn to sell to the public....untill then....DON'T BUY AN ALL-PRO BUMPER!!!!!! Unless you're a mall crawler of course:jester:

What a night and the new bumper fix looks good. The best part was driving home. I flipped on my 6 off road lights behind kurt to give him ****. He flips on his lights and then rotates them to behind the truck and shines them right on me via remote control. Now that is just plane COOL!

Of course it was hard to help Kurt when you are watching BellyDoc's Rock crawler in the making inside the garage.

So how much for the BellyDoc/Homedad All Pro fix? I need to get over to AZ sometime anyway. Homedad I am glad that you where able to make work out. Looking forward to the pics and seeing how it came out. I am sure that if you and Belly Doc got together the product was solid and reliable. Thanks for taking the time to post this issue as you know I have addressed it with the company and others. With my recent deployment schedule I have not had anytime to look into a fix.

Good Work:cheers:

I've used my Warn 8000 (mounted in my All Pro front bumper) to pull my FJ out of nasty messes at least a dozen times now. So far, I've had no problems. Nevertheless, I also hope I don't have problems in the future. I additionally hope - no I expect - that All Pro will step up and create a "patch" (to use computer jargon) for this apparently widespread problem.

All Pro??? What say you???

For others looking to fix their all-pro bumper that they already own, they should really consider a bolt on fix. You really don't want you bumper to be welded to your frame when you are out and about, unless of course you carry and plasma cutter with you at all times.

For folks who don't own one already, you might want to call All-Pro instead. People with the bumpers already, aren't really in the market of buying a new bumper from All-Pro. Maybe someone who IS is the market for a new one will actually get some action out of All-Pro on the issue.

Anyone out there with the ability to create a bolt on fix thinking about making something available for those of us who would like to do the fix, but don't have the facilities to create a fix, to purchase??

The bumper is drilled and tapped for the little skid plate(flap) that hangs down. It wouldn't take much to make a plate that attaches to the lower crossmember. Don't think it would help much for the issue at hand but, that flap is silly.
